Suryapet: Alleging a custodial murder of a Dalit youth, Karla Rajesh, 32 in Chilkur police station, BRS State General Secretary and former IPS officer RS Praveen Kumar on Tuesday demanded for a second autopsy after registration of a murder case against the police personnel concerned along with DSP Sridhar Reddy.

The BRS leader who called on the family members of Rajesh in Kodad, wanted the government to pay Rs 1 crore ex gratia to the kin of the victim as compensation along with a double-bedroom house, five acres of land and a government job for a member of his family.

He alleged that Rajesh was subjected to brutal torture for five days in police custody and murdered by Chilkur police to shield ruling party leaders involved in corruption and fraud.

Addressing the media after consoling the bereaved family and paying tributes to Rajesh, Praveen Kumar accused Civil Supplies Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy and local MLA Padmavathi of protecting DSP Sridhar Reddy, who allegedly led the torture. He claimed the DSP was transferred and posted as desired by the local minister “to continue looting together”.

The BRS leader alleged that Rajesh was falsely implicated in a 2022 CMRF cheque fraud case involving Congress workers, tortured to name former BRS MLA Mallayya Yadav, and denied medical aid despite deteriorating health, violating Supreme Court guidelines and Article 21.

Stating that CM Revanth Reddy had completely failed as Home Minister, he accused him of protecting culprits. He warned that BRS, along with all caste organisations and civil society groups, would continue fighting until justice is delivered to Rajesh’s family.
