RS Praveen Kumar seeks probe into Revanth Reddy family properties under GO 134

BRS general secretary RS Praveen Kumar alleged that the Telangana government was targeting BRS leaders through the GO 134 inquiry into 22-A lands. He demanded that complaints concerning properties linked to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s family also be examined.

Hyderabad: BRS general secretary RS Praveen Kumar accused the Revanth Reddy government of using GO 134, under which an IAS officers’ committee was constituted, to target BRS leaders in the name of an inquiry into 22-A prohibited lands. He demanded that complaints against the properties of the Chief Minister’s family and other Congress leaders also be brought under the committee’s purview.

Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan on Thursday, Praveen Kumar said BRS leaders were being targeted in retaliation after they demanded an inquiry by a sitting Supreme Court or High Court judge into the 22-A lands list. However, he observed that the government had restricted the inquiry to 16 people and questioned the reference to “KCR and others, associates” in its terms of reference.

He demanded that complaints received from the public regarding Revanth Reddy’s family properties should also be investigated. “According to the information available to us, Revanth Reddy and his family members have 460 acres of land. The officials’ committee should inquire into it,” he said.

The BRS leader stated that the Chief Minister’s daughter Naimisha Reddy purchased land in Kompally allegedly worth Rs 150 crore for just Rs 8 crore. “If land valued at Rs 1.5 lakh per square yard was bought for Rs 8,000, how did it happen?” he asked, emphasising that the matter required investigation.

Praveen Kumar sought inquiries into alleged land dealings involving Revanth Reddy’s brother Tirupati Reddy at Pasumamula and alleged transactions involving the Chief Minister’s family under the Tenancy Act.

He also demanded probes into alleged land dealings involving Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy’s family, including his son Harsh, their Raghav Developers and also their properties in Khanamet, Gachibowli, Diamond Hills, Serilingampally and Vattinagulapally.

The former IPS officer urged the officers committee to examine complaints from all citizens, not just those concerning BRS leaders. He said the BRS would continue monitoring the inquiry and place the information available with it before the committee. He also alleged that the government was using commissions and SITs to pursue politics of revenge against the opposition.

He lashed out at the Chief Minister for targeting former MLC Stephenson, who was the prime witness in the Cash for Vote case against Revanth Reddy, and ordering an investigation into his properties. He feared that there was a threat to Stephenson’s life.

Reminding that KCR was not just a political leader but an emotion to the people of Telangana, Praveen Kumar questioned the police enforcement against playing his songs during Ganesh idol procession and immersion. He termed Hyderabad police commissioner VC Sajjanar’s orders against playing the songs illegal.
