Hyderabad: Raising concern over what termed ‘witch hunt’ of senior officers in Andhra Pradesh, BRS leader and former IPS officer, RS Praveen Kumar warned that if such attacks continue further against them , no all India service officer would be interested in serving the public in the state.

Taking to social media platform ‘X’, Praveen Kumar strongly condemned the AP government’s disciplinary actions against senior IPS officer and former CID chief P.V. Sunil Kumar, questioning what was wrong with the officer’s post on Twitter.

Praveen Kumar asked how just the mention of “I leave it to your wisdom” made by Sunil Kumar with regard to the government stand on the case pertaining to the TDP MLA Raghurama Krishnam Raju would amount to violation of service rules.

He criticised the government, suggesting Article 19 of the Constitution be read once again to understand the freedoms given to the citizens of India. He expressed regrets over such instances reported under an experienced administrator like Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

The AP government had taken seriously a complaint lodged by Raghurama Krishnam Raju, who alleged that he was arrested and tortured in a sedition case on May 14, 2021, during the previous YSRCP government. The AP CID has started an investigation, naming P.V. Sunil Kumar and others as accused. Sunil Kumar recently responded on Twitter, questioning the new FIR in a case that the Supreme Court had dismissed after three years of proceedings.

The AP government stated that Sunil Kumar’s comments violated the All India Service Conduct Rules and registered charges of misconduct against him.
