RSS conclave discusses demographic imbalance, youth issues and systemic failures: C R Mukunda
The RSS’s three-day coordination meeting in Visakhapatnam discussed demographic imbalance, youth concerns, drug abuse and systemic issues, senior leader C R Mukunda said. He also outlined the organisation’s youth engagement efforts and said Mohan Bhagwat’s overseas tour was part of centenary outreach
Visakhapatnam: The demographic imbalance in some regions and its impact on harmony, the recent youth protests, and related systemic failures were among the issues discussed during the three-day RSS conclave here, a senior Sangh leader said on Friday.
Briefing reporters about the Akhil Bharatiya Samanvay Baithak that concluded here, Saffron outfit leader C R Mukunda said certain communities were witnessing a massive increase in their population while others were decreasing and this imbalance has been debated.
“The three-day All India Coordination Meeting held wide-ranging discussions on demographic imbalance, drug abuse, youth concerns, systemic shortcomings and the need for constructive efforts by government and society,” Mukunda said.
The fertility rate is decreasing and due to demographic imbalance in some regions, the harmony that existed in society is also diminishing, he alleged.
He said the meeting discussed the “growing spread of drugs” into smaller cities, villages and schools, particularly affecting children and youth.
He stressed the need for coordinated efforts to address the menace.
On the recent Jantar Mantar protests, the RSS leader said some failures in the system were discussed.
The RSS wants the system to run in a good way, and for that the government has to take steps and the society has to be awakened.
Concerns of youth, what needs to be done for their future, and their contribution to the country were discussed in the three-day meeting, he said.
“Our youth Swayamsevaks who attend every year the 21-day training camp is 21,000. This year also, 21,000 young swayamsevaks attended our training camp,” he said.
All over the country, “more than 60 per cent of the daily attendance in RSS shakhas are youths and “so we are working among them. So we know what they think, how they think.”
The RSS leader said those who are attending shakhas are not the only youth population.
Similarly, those who staged protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi are not the only youth population.
Bharat has more than 35 crore youth population, which is in the 15-19 and 16-29 year age group, he said and batted for a day-to-day process involving engagement, dialogue and understanding with the youth population. The Sangh and its allied organisations are doing it.
He said: “We believe that the future of Bharat is safe with our young minds.”
To a question on the RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s upcoming tour to the US, Canada and the UK, Mukunda said it was part of the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh’s centenary celebrations and its global outreach programme.
The objective is to counter propaganda and misinformation campaign against India, Hindus and the RSS.
The tour aims to engage mainstream societies in different countries and counter misinformation while conveying the message of universal oneness; which is “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.”
During the tour, he will attend a Universal Oneness programme at Madison Square Garden in New York and community leaders’ meetings in Toronto and London, where he will convey the message of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.
According to the RSS, the Samanvay Baithak is neither an executive meeting nor a decision-making forum.
“Its primary purpose is to provide a platform for various organisations to share information about their activities, experiences over the past year, achievements, challenges and developments taking place in different spheres of society.”
The three-day meeting concluded today at Visakhapatnam.
