RTA cracks down on private buses over exorbitant Sankranti fares
The RTA conducted surprise inspections in Rajendranagar and booked five private buses for fare and permit violations after complaints of overcharging passengers ahead of the Sankranti travel rush, warning of continued strict enforcement.

Hyderabad: Regional Transport Authority (RTA) carried out surprise inspections in Rajendranagar on Friday, targeting private travel buses which were reportedly charging exorbitant fares ahead of the Sankranti festival.
The checks were conducted at Aramghar crossroads, where officials stopped and inspected private buses operating from Hyderabad to Kerala, Bengaluru, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and several destinations in Andhra Pradesh.
The action comes amid complaints that passengers were being overcharged by private travel operators during the festive rush.
During the special drive, RTA officials booked cases against atleast five buses for violating fare and permit norms.
Authorities said inspections will continue and warned that strict action will be taken against operators violating rules.
The special enforcement drive is being carried out on the instructions of Ranga Reddy district Deputy Transport Officer Sadanandam, with a specific focus on curbing illegal practices by private travel bus operators during the peak holiday season.
