Hyderabad: The ongoing strike by RTC workers intensified on Friday, with employees staging a protest in front of various bus depots in the city and across the State.

Protest was held at the Jeedimetla depot, disrupting normal operations and raising slogans against the government. The agitating workers demanded immediate resolution of their pending issues, alleging continued neglect by the authorities.

Tensions prevailed at the depot as workers gathered in large numbers, asserting that their strike was a result of the government’s indifferent approach towards their long-pending demands.

Local MLA and BRS Legislature Party Whip K. P. Vivekanand, extending support to the workers termed the strike as justified and blamed the government’s negligent attitude for forcing employees onto the streets.

He held the government responsible for the suicide of RTC driver Shankar Goud in Narsampet, calling it a reflection of the distress among workers.

Vivekanand demanded that the state government immediately respond to the legitimate demands of RTC workers.
