Hyderabad: The fourth edition of NMDC Grace Cancer Run, a hybrid running event consisting of virtual and in-person participation, was held at Gachibowli Stadium on Sunday. The run aimed at spreading awareness about cancer and organised annually by Grace Cancer Foundation, attracted participation not only from Hyderabad but from 120 countries, organisers said.
The run which was flagged-off by Cyberabad Police Commissioner, Stephen Raveendra, was to encourage early detection of cancer and ultimately create a world devoid of cancer, NMDC, MD, Sumit Deb, said.
“Our endeavour this year is to sensitise people against delaying cancer detection and treatment and the cancer run enabled that message to resonate strongly,” Dr Chinnababu Sunkavalli, CEO, Grace Cancer Foundation said.
The cancer run was conducted in three different categories including 5K, 10K and half marathon of distance 21.2 km. Those who took part virtually in event recorded their run in activity applications and submitted results by taking a selfie with the bib on the chest to the organisers, so that their participation can be recorded.
