Hyderabad: Chennai Super Kings had one of their worst campaigns in the history of the Indian Premier League in 2020 when they finished lowly seventh after poor performances. However, their captain MS Dhoni, who retired from cricket just before the kick-off of the tournament, hit the headlines for saying there were ‘no sparks in youngsters’ to take them into the side.
But debutant Ruturaj Gaikwad made an impression scoring three fifties at the back end of the tournament as his side finished with three consecutive wins. Speaking during a question and answer session on Instagram, the Maharashtra cricketer credited the environment in the CSK dressing room for the turnaround. He had a poor start and didn’t score much in the first three matches before scoring a hat-trick of half-centuries. “A lot matters on the team atmosphere and how all the members in the team react to your failures…And I think CSK is one of the best in that and having everyone calm and cool minded around helped me focus more on my process..!” Gaikwad wrote.
