Hyderabad: The United Federation of Resident Welfare Associations (UFERWAS), an apex body of Greater Hyderabad RWAs, assured the GHMC election authorities of its support in promoting voter awareness and ensuring an accurate and inclusive electoral process during the implementation of Special Intensive Revision (SIR).
The GHMC authorities invited UFERWAS representatives and various RWAs to an awareness session on the SIR on Friday. B T Srinivasan, General Secretary, UFERWAS, said in a statement that GHMC election officials provided detailed insights into the SIR process, which was undertaken to ensure accuracy, inclusiveness and updating of electoral rolls.
The Additional Commissioner (Elections), Chandrakala, said the SIR exercise will be carried out across 15 Assembly constituencies within GHMC limits. She explained the methodology of voter mapping within families, based on electoral rolls from 2025 and 2002, aimed at identifying and correcting discrepancies such as duplicate, shifted or ineligible entries.
“We urged the GHMC authorities to reinstate the earlier SMS-based voter verification service, which allowed citizens to check their voter registration status using their EPIC number,” said Srinivasan.
