Rythu Bandhu amount to be deposited to farmer’ accounts from Tuesday
Minister said the government decided to deposit the amounts without delay to help farmers invest in cultivation though the State government could not generate enough revenues in the past one year due to Covid-19
Sangareddy: Finance Minister T Harish Rao on Monday said the government will start depositing the first installment of Rythu Bandhu in farmers’ bank accounts from Tuesday. Addressing the media after laying the foundation for Sangameshwara Lift Irrigation Project in the district, the Minister said the government decided to deposit the amounts without delay to help farmers invest in cultivation though the State government could not generate enough revenues in the past one year due to Covid-19.
Stating that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao wanted to transform Telangana as ‘Annapurna (Rice Bowl) of India by providing irrigation to 1.25 crore acres, Rao said that they could provide irrigation to 75 lakh acres during the last year.
Saying that they wanted to complete leftover projects under Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme (KLIS) and other proposed irrigation projects in the next few years, Rao said the Telangana government has procured 2.2 crore tonnes of paddy during the last Vanakalam and Yasangi combined.
Once all the projects conceived by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao are completed, he said that the agriculture production will go up further. Earlier, the Minister distributed red gram seeds to farmers at Sangareddy Collectorate.
Speaking on the occasion, Harish Rao said that the Telangana government decided to encourage the farmers to take up palm oil cultivation this season. Later, representatives of Kirby Industries and Azim Premji Foundation have also presented medical kits to Covid-19 patients to Sanagreddy district administration from the hands of the Finance Minister on this occasion.
