Rythu Bandhu: Over Rs 1600 cr deposited to farmers’ accounts

Hyderabad: About 15.07 lakh farmers owning land upto 2 acre received the Rythu Bandhu assistance collectively amounting to Rs 1,152.46 crore in their bank accounts on the second day of disbursement of the amount for Vaanakalam season. In all, a total of 1,669.42 crore has been deposited into the accounts of farmers since Tuesday.
By Thursday evening, around 42.43 lakh farmers comprising mostly small and marginal farmers and covering nearly two-thirds of the total 63.25 lakh eligible farmers in the State would have received their amount in their bank accounts. The government has already made arrangements for disbursement of total Rs 2,942.27 crore against 58.85 lakh acre. The disbursement of investment support under the Rythu Bandhu scheme is scheduled to conclude before June 25.
Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy once again urged farmers to take up cultivation of crops which had high demand in the market and earn remunerative price for their hard work. He asked them to cultivate cotton, red gram, pulses and oil seeds on a large scale as these crops were in high demand in both domestic and international markets.
