Sangareddy: Representatives of Rythu Swarajya Vedika (RSV) expressed their disappointment over poor implementation of the National Family Benefit Scheme (NFBS) in Sangareddy district. The RSV representatives gave a representation to Collector P Pravinya during the grievances day in Sangareddy in this regard on Monday.
Convenor of RSV B Kondal Reddy said that the Sangareddy district administration has disbursed only 15 applications, while 156 applications were still pending at Tahsildar, RDO and DRO offices for many days. He said that the Telangana government can release Rs 20,000 to 14,000 families under NFBS every year. The benefit is given to families who lose their breadwinner.
However, the RSV convenor said that the scheme is not being implemented properly across the State. Reddy said that the officials in Sangareddy can extend the benefit to 1,000 families every year, but they could help only 15 in the last year. Out of 156, he said that 135 applications were pending in Zaheerabad division alone.
Since not many were receiving the benefit even after applying, the RSV convenor said that many eligible families were not coming forward to apply. The RSV appealed to the Collector to ensure that all the applications are processed shortly. It further urged the Collector to educate people at the village level to apply for the benefit, as the available funds were not being utilised.
