Saanve Megghana, a graduate from St. Francis College For Women, is trying her luck with her first full-length role in the upcoming Telugu movie ‘Pushpaka Vimanam’. Studious and energetic, this bubbly girl was spotted by a few Telugu filmmakers at her college a few years ago. However, she has been dodging the camera out of fear.
“A few years ago, I wasn’t sure I would fit into acting. I happened to watch film shootings in college premises and saw Natural Star Nani and television anchor Ravi. Inadvertently, my friends and I were pulled before the camera just to fill the frame. It was during that time a filmmaker approached me and asked whether I am interested in acting. I wasn’t sure because I come from a conventional Telugu family. I told him I could only dance but not act,” says Megghana.
The actor since then has been dodging film offers that came her way. “Someone from Zee Telugu called me asking whether I could act for a television series. And later, veteran actor Jayasudha auditioned me for a television show. I happened to play a Telangana tomboy in it. Since then, I started accepting roles both from films and television,” she says.
Megghana plays an aspiring actor in a comedy entertainer in Anand Deverakonda-starrer ‘Pushpaka Vimanam’, which is slated to release this Friday. “I play a girl who wants to prove her talent with short-films. It’s a fun-filled entertainer. Every actor has gotten an independent space in this film, which is a mixture of comedy and suspense. Just watching the rushes I felt Anand Deverakonda has nailed his performance as a mathematics teacher who struggles with life after his wife elopes with someone,” she says.
After playing a decent role in the Tharun Bhascker-directorial ‘Pitta Kathalu’, the actor got a chance to play a bride from Telangana in the recent flick ‘Most Eligible Bachelor’, directed by Bommarillu Bhaskar.
Megghana couldn’t believe her luck working with stars like Vijay Deverakonda, who is bankrolling the movie. And about the fangirl moment with Icon Star Allu Arjun, the Hyderabad-born actor says she couldn’t be thankful for the gesture from the star and the way the industry is treating her.
“I’ve been watching him since childhood. It was a great moment to have met the Icon Star during the pre-release event. And I’m equally thankful to Vijay Deverakonda. Giving an opportunity to newbies like me, it’s a great quality that Vijay has,” she adds.
