Yadadri-Bhongir: Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy on Sunday said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao accorded top priority for safety and self sufficiency of the women, which was real women empowerment.

Participating in Mahika Bandhu programme conducted at Choutuppal on the occasion of Women’s Day celebrations, Jagadish Reddy said that the Chief Minister was biased towards women and hence, majority of benefits under all the schemes were being provided on the name of a woman of the families. After taking the reins of the administration, the Chief Minister took special measures including SHE teams for safety and security of the women and girls in the State.

He pointed out that the State government established the SHE teams after studying women safety measures in different countries. Eve-teasing and crimes against women have reduced after 2014 in the State. The Chief Minister also recognised that financial empowerment would also ensure social status to the women and take up several schemes to help the women to stand on their legs.

He reminded that KCR Kits, Kalyana Lakshmi and improved educational facilities to girls have changed the attitude of the society towards the girls and women. Women representation in politics was also increased in the state after 2014.

Earlier, the Energy Minister felicitated ANMs and Anganwadi and Choutuppal municipality women workers and distributed cheques of Kalyana Lakshmi to 105 beneficiaries. The women were also tied rakhi to the portrait of the Chief Minister on the occasion.

Zilla Parishad Chairman Alimineti Sandeep Reddy, former MP Boora Narsaiah Goud and Municipal chairman Venareddy rajender were also attended the programme.
