Hyderabad: City Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar on Tuesday issued a strong message against the neglect and abandonment of elderly parents, calling such acts unacceptable and warning of strict legal action against offenders.

Sharing his views on X, Sajjanar said he had repeatedly come across cases where aged parents were deserted by their own children after becoming weak or unwell.

Emphasising that caring for parents is a fundamental responsibility, he said it is neither a favour nor a burden.

The commissioner further cautioned that the way children treat their parents sets an example for future generations and urged families to uphold the dignity of the elderly.

He also assured senior citizens facing neglect that the police would extend full support.

Sajjanar said elderly parents who feel helpless or unheard can directly approach the police, assuring them of protection, dignity and justice.
