Sakala Janula Samme Completes 14 Years: KTR recalls historic moment

Hyderabad: The Sakala Janula Samme organised as part of the Telangana statehood movement that showcased the unwavering resolve of the people of Telangana has completed 14 years today. Recalling the historic moment that marked the beginning of the 42-day-long peaceful protest that commenced on September 12, 2011, BRS Working President, K T Rama Rao on Saturday said that it united people from all walks of life in a powerful demonstration of solidarity, shaking the corridors of power in Delhi and paving the way for the formation of Telangana as a separate state.
The movement, spearheaded by Telangana Rashtra Samithi leader K. Chandrashekhar Rao, saw an unprecedented response from the people of Telangana. Following his clarion call during the Jana Garjana event in Karimnagar, the entire Telangana society came together as one.
People voluntarily participated in the strike, raising the slogan “Aur Ek Dhakka, Telangana Pakka”, which reverberated across the region. Defying restrictions, facing intimidation, and overcoming obstacles, the people of Telangana stood firm with the singular goal of achieving statehood.
The Sakala Janula Samme was a remarkable display of unity, with diverse sections of society—farmers, workers, students, and professionals—joining hands in a peaceful yet resolute struggle. The strike, which lasted for 42 days, highlighted the deep-rooted aspiration for a separate Telangana and brought the region’s demands to national attention, he said.
Taking to social media on this occasion, the BRS working president took to social media to express gratitude to every individual who participated in the historic strike. In a tweet, he wrote, “On the 14th anniversary of the Sakala Janula Samme, I extend my heartfelt thanks to every person who took part in this movement. Your determination and sacrifices made Telangana’s dream a reality and concluded hailing ‘Jai Telangana’”.
