Hyderabad: Going by the grapevine in the film industry, Samantha Ruth Prabhu is likely to join Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan in the Indian spin-off of Anthony and Joe Russo’s American drama series ‘Citadel’.

The Russo brothers are known for directing the ‘Avengers’ films. It seems Samantha and Varun have struck a deal with the OTT giant Amazon Prime Video for the exciting project.

The Indian adaptation of ‘Citadel’ will be directed by Raj and DK, with whom Samantha worked in the critically-acclaimed series ‘The Family Man 2’.

This will be Varun’s first project with the director duo and his first time starring opposite Telugu film star Samantha on-screen. Fans are excited about the unexpected and fresh pairing! The Indian version will be filmed in the year 2022.

The American version of ‘Citadel’ sees ‘desi girl’ Priyanka Chopra Jonas essaying an important role opposite Hollywood actor Richard Madden.

The show is described as an “action-packed spy series with a compelling emotional center” and “an expansive and ground-breaking global event comprising a mothership series and several local language satellite series”.

The main series is currently in production in the United Kingdom and is scheduled to stream in April 2022. Meanwhile, Varun and Samantha were both seen hitting the gym on Christmas morning going by their Instagram series.
