Fake voter ID cards of Telugu actresses Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Tamannaah Bhatia, and Rakul Preet Singh have surfaced online in Jubilee Hills, triggering an Election Commission probe ahead of the November 11 Assembly by-election. Authorities are examining links to possible misinformation campaigns

Hyderabad: Days after the BRS raised concerns over fake voters in Jubilee Hills, fraudulent voter ID cards bearing the names and photographs of popular Telugu actresses have surfaced online, triggering widespread discussion on social media. Sources said Election Commission officials have launched an investigation.

The fake cards which were widely circulated on social media were issued in the names of Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Tamannaah Bhatia and Rakul Preet Singh. They carried the actresses’ images alongside EPIC numbers of genuine voters, with all of them having the same residential address.

Officials are reportedly making efforts to trace how the fake cards were fabricated and circulated. Authorities are also examining whether the incident is part of a planned misinformation campaign ahead of the crucial by-election.

The controversy erupted just weeks before the Jubilee Hills Assembly bypoll, scheduled for November 11, with counting to be held on November 14. The by-election was necessitated following the death of sitting BRS MLA Maganti Gopinath in June this year.
