The much-awaited first look of upcoming epic saga “Shaakuntalam” is out. Samantha who is playing Queen Shakuntala, in the Gunasekhar directorial mythological drama, looks stunning in this retold version of Shakuntala and Dushyanta’s love saga, based on Kalidasa’s play “Abhignana Shakuntalam”.
Amid the natural abundance, she looks pretty and gorgeous. Seated on a rock in a forest, surrounded by deer, rabbits, swans, dove and butterflies, in white ensemble, the actor looks angelic.
Unveiling the first-look poster of the mythological genre film on Twitter, Samantha wrote, “Presenting ..Nature’s beloved.. the Ethereal and Demure.. “Shakuntala” from #Shaakuntalam #ShaakuntalamFirstLook (sic)”
In the mythological tale of King Dushyanta and Shakuntala, daughter of Vishwamitra and apsara Menaka, starring opposite Samantha is Malayalam actor Dev Mohan playing Dushyanta, the king of the Puru Dynasty.
Kabir Duhan Singh, who has done some notable performances as a villain in many Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu films, plays antagonist King Asura. Icon Star Allu Arjun’s daughter Allu Arha is making her feature film debut as Prince Bharata.
Th mega project is produced by Neelima Guna and Dil Raju under their respective banners Gunaa Teamworks and Dil Raju Productions. Music is by Mani Sharma. Currently under post-production stage, the magnum opus will have a release date soon. The mythological love drama is a pan-India big-budget film to be released in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada.
