Hyderabad: The word ‘cake’ has become synonymous with celebration, love, sharing and togetherness. It brings up lovely memories of the family and loved ones coming together and cutting into the soft goodness and sharing delicious slices topped with frosting and toppings.
Sampada Nadagouda, a young baker from the city is one person who chose to spread happiness through baked goodies, through her home-based-venture Yours Cakely.
Having always been fascinated with baking, Sampada started baking actively in 2017 after doing a couple of courses on baking. “I was working at an MNC and around that time, I used to watch a lot of baking videos and I also did a couple of small baking courses. I used to bake cakes, cookies, brownies and more for my friends and family but later when I realised they love those, I decided to take up a full time diploma course on baking. Since mid-2018, I have been baking full-time,” says Sampada.
The youngster specialises in making everything from scratch, even making complex recipes like salted caramel butterscotch cake, which incidentally, is one of her top cakes.
“I like putting my whole self into making a cake, especially frosting it and making it look good. When a client calls me and tells me that they didn’t feel like cutting the cake, it makes me feel great about my work. Baking and frosting a cake are also very therapeutic for me,” says the baker who averages 2-3 cakes a day.
Sampada bakes for every occasion, from birthdays to weddings to baby showers and more, with cakes shaped like baskets, swans, beer mugs, etc, without using eggs. “I used to bake with eggs too but now I only bake eggless and I also ensure the shape is thoroughly customised to suit the client’s request,” she adds.
