Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Tuesday constituted a committee to examine notices issued by the Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) over commercial activities being carried out in some residential buildings, officials said. In line with a recent Supreme Court order, the PMC had issued notices to 26,745 property owners earlier this month for running commercial operations inside residential buildings, they said.

The committee headed by Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary will study the matter and recommend necessary steps towards a practical solution in public interest, according to a statement issued by the CMO. Urban Development and Housing Minister Nitish Mishra has been appointed as the member secretary of the panel. Rural Development Minister Shrawon Kumar, Cooperative Minister Ram Kripal Yadav, and MLC Sanjay Kumar Singh are its other members, it said.

The decision followed a meeting between a delegation of legislators and the chief minister, during which the team submitted a memorandum seeking a resolution to the notices issued by the civic body. The delegation included MLAs Sanjiv Chaurasia, Ratnesh Kushwaha, Shyam Rajak and Sanjay Gupta, the release added.
