Sangareddy: The Joint Action Committee (JAC) fighting against setting up of Pyaranagar dump yard enforced the bandh of Gummadidala mandal in Sangareddy district and Narsapur town in Medak district on Thursday.
The villagers of Pyaranagar and Nallavalli climbed atop a cell tower as a mark of protest. Meanwhile, MLAs V Sunitha Lakshma Reddy and Sangareddy MLA Chintha Prabhakar will meet Sangareddy Collector Valluru Kranthi on Thursday to present a representation seeking the government to scrap the proposed project.
The villagers said that 10 villages would be affected with the GHMC’s decision to set up a dump yard in Gummadidala and Narsapur mandals. They said the garbage treatment would also impact the agriculture practices in the area apart from polluting the water bodies.
However, the GHMC officials were trying to convince the villagers that the dump yard would cause no pollution unlike the Jawahar Nagar dump yard. The executive engineer of the GHMC, Srinivas said that they would employ European technology to treat the waste in an eco-friendly way.
