Hyderabad: A 46-year-old man from Sanathnagar was allegedly subjected to severe harassment and duped to the tune of Rs 36.16 lakh by loan app executives.
Police said the victim had taken loans through two online loan apps in August 2025 and initially borrowed small amounts. Despite repaying them on time, the apps allegedly credited higher loan amounts without his consent and began issuing threats even before the loan tenure ended.
The offenders reportedly accessed the victim’s contacts and photo gallery, morphed images with obscene content and further threatened to circulate them among close groups, including his family and friends.
Under continuous pressure and mental distress, the victim made repeated payments. Based on a complaint, the Hyderabad Cybercrime Police are investigating the case.
