Sanction to prosecute govt employees pending in 511 cases: Fadnavis

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis informed the Assembly that sanction proposals to prosecute government employees in 511 cases were pending as of May 31, 2026. Of these, 400 had remained pending for over 90 days across multiple departments

Mumbai: The proposals seeking prior sanction for prosecuting Maharashtra government employees in 511 cases are pending with various administrative departments as of May 31, 2026, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis informed the assembly on Tuesday.

In a written reply to a question raised by BJP MLA Rajesh Bakane, Fadnavis stated that 111 of the pending proposals had been awaiting approval for less than 90 days, while 400 had remained pending for more than 90 days.


At 111, the highest number of pending cases is with the Police and Home Department. The Revenue and Forest Department had 66 pending cases, followed by the Rural Development and Zilla Parishad Department (71), Urban Development (44), School Education Department (37), Public Health Department (24), Cooperation Department (12) and Agriculture Department (10).

The information was furnished in a written reply tabled in the House in response to Bakane’s question regarding prior sanction for the prosecution of government employees.
