Sangareddy: With an objective to make the spraying of pesticides easy and improve the efficiency of spraying, Dr M Vijay Kumar, Principal Scientist at Agriculture Research Station located at Basanthpur in Nyalkal Mandal, has designed a modern pesticide sprayer.
While the farmer had to carry the existing knapsack sprayer on his back all the day, the farmer needed to just mount the knapsack sprayer on the machine designed by Vijay Kumar. While the operator needed to move the lever to create pressure in the traditional knapsack sprayer tank for spraying, Vijay Kumar has said that the machine, whose front wheel is fitted with a cycle chain wheel and crank, will move the pressure lever while the operator is pushing the machine forward.
Saying that the boom sprayer will have three nozzles either side, Vijay Kumar has said that it would cover three and half meters area of crop at a time. To control the intensity of the spraying, he said that the nozzles can be tuned accordingly. He has further said that an operator can cover three to four acres of crop in a day with the machine designed by him. The cost of the machine is put at just Rs 9,000.
