Sangareddy: In a cinematic chase, Patancheru police chased a swift car that was transporting ganja on NH-65 at Rudraram village in Sangareddy district on Sunday morning. The car driver and other occupants managed to escape after the car hit an electric pole and could not move any further. Authorities have seized cannabis worth Rs 44.80 lakh.
Inspector N Venugopal Reddy said that they were carrying out a checking of vehicles at Outer Ring Road near Muthangi. However, the swift car did not stop at the checkpoint and attempted to speed through following which a hot chase ensued. The swift car took a left turn at Rudraram towards GITAM University and hit a roadside pole.
Unable to drive any further, the Inspector said the accused got out of the car and fled. The case has been handed over to the Patancheru Inspector-II Srinivasulu for further investigation. The Patancheru police said that the accused were believed to be bringing ganja from Andhra-Odisha Border and were on their way to Maharashtra.
