Sangareddy: In a unique way of raising an issue, over a dozen girls ‘submitted a representation’ to Lord Vinayaka seeking divine intervention to protect women in the country at Gummadidala in Sangareddy district on Monday.
The girls – Pranavi, Alekhya, Geethika, Nandini, Deekshika, and others – moved by the rape and murder of a six-year-old in Hyderabad, wrote a letter to Lord Vinayaka. Holding the portrait of the six-year-old victim, the girls sought divine intervention to punish the criminals.
Speaking on the occasion, Pranavi said existing laws did not offer enough protection to girls. Claiming that elected representatives were not bothered about their security, Pranavi sought divine intervention to protect women in the country. The girls did it with the support of an NGO which was working for protection of women in the area.
