Sangareddy: Survey for Sangameshwara project from June 12
The SLIP is proposed to lift water from the Singur reservoir — built across River Manjira in Pulkal mandal of Sangareddy district — to irrigate 2.19 lakh acres in Sangareddy, Andole and Zaheerabad Assembly constituencies.
Sangareddy: Survey works of the Sangameshwara Lift Irrigation Project (SLIP), being taken up under packages 17 and 18 of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme (KLIS), will commence on June 12.
The SLIP is proposed to lift water from the Singur reservoir — built across River Manjira in Pulkal mandal of Sangareddy district — to irrigate 2.19 lakh acres in Sangareddy, Andole and Zaheerabad Assembly constituencies. Since the State government plans to lift at least 20 tmc to Singur from the Mallanna Sagar reservoir, Sangareddy district will hugely benefit from the project. While the Zaheerabad constituency will get water for 1.06 lakh acres, Sangareddy and Andole constituencies will get irrigation to 57,000 and 56,000 acres, respectively, under the SLIP.
Finance Minister T Harish Rao held a meeting with elected representatives, officials and contractors at his office in Hyderabad on Tuesday. Harish will launch the survey works on June 12. Stating that there would be two pumphouses under the project, Chief Engineer (Irrigation) Sangareddy V Ajay Kumar told the Minister that the first pumphouse would lift water to a height of 125 metres and the second pumphouse 40 metres.
The Minister asked consultancy and irrigation officials to complete the survey works at the earliest to prepare a DPR. He informed them that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao wanted to set the ball rolling on works as early as possible. Andole MLA Chanti Kranthi Kiran, former Sangareddy MLA Chintha Prabhakar, Superintending Engineer Muralidhar, EEs Subramanya Prasad and P Madhusudhan Reddy were present.
