Sangareddy well-equipped to tackle Covid: Harish Rao

Sangareddy: Finance Minister T Harish Rao on Sunday said the State government had made all arrangements to set up 480 Oxygen Supplied beds in four Area Hospitals and Government Hospital in Sangareddy besides making available enough Remdesivir medicines.
Officials participating in a review meeting with the Minister informed him that the district had 984 Oxygen supported beds including 480 in government hospitals. They said that 444 of them were vacant as of Sunday. The Minister suggested the officials stipulate the fee to be charged by the private hospitals for Covid-19 treatment.
He asked the managements of private hospitals to only charge the stipulated fees. The Minister has said that they will place a board at all the private hospitals. Asking the drug administration to ensure the supply of Remdesivir injections to 28 private hospitals in Sangareddy district, Rao has said the effort will reduce the burden on government hospitals. The Minister has asked them to rope in the services of the best caterer to supply the food at the hospitals until the situation eases out. He has asked them to supply the Oxygen as well as to private hospitals.
Saying that they have already set up a call centre to attend to the calls from Covid-19 patients, he has asked the health department officials to replace non functional ventilators with new one in government hospital Sangareddy to meet the demand.
Suggesting the officials to supply nutritious food to Covid-19 patients by spending Rs 220 on each patient, Rao has said that the patients were not being given proper food now. He has said that the hospitals were having sufficient Oxygen supplies and Remdesivir injections.
Asking the officials to create a WhatsApp Group by making himself, MPs, MLAs, Collector and health department officials as members, Rao has said that they will have a teleconference every morning for half an hour on the issue. “Our aim is to provide the proper treatment to each and every Covid-19 infected, he said. The Minister has warned the hospitals of stern action if they misuse the Remdesivir injection. Rao has asked Additional Collector Rajaharshi Shai to monitor the supply and use of Remdesivir in the district.
MPs Kotha Prabhakar Reddy and BB Patil, MLAs Chanti Kranthi Kiran, K Manik Rao, Superintendent of Police S Chandrasekhar Reddy, Additional Collector J Veera Reddy, District Medical and Health Officer Dr Gayathri and others were present.
