Sangareddy: A youngster, who was thrashed by a girl’s family after he wished her on her birthday in the night by reaching her home, ended his life by jumping into a lake in Sadasivpet on Monday.

According to the police, Mallagoni Ranjith (19), a resident of Malapahad in Sadasivpet mandal, was in love with his classmate, an intermediate second year student in the government junior college in Pulkal. Since the girl reportedly asked him to come to her home to wish her on her birthday on Sunday night, Ranjith made the daring attempt and wished the girl. However, her parents caught hold of him while he was returning and beat him black and blue.

Coming to know about this, Ranjith’s friends came to his rescue and accompanied him to his home. Feeling humiliated, Ranjith however left his home and jumped into a lake near the village in the early hours of Monday. The body was retrieved after three hours of efforts. The Sadasivpet police registered a case. Investigation is on.
