Hyderabad: Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has been in the forefront with his views whenever India is in action. The former cricketer and noted commentator expresses his views and is quite vocal about them.
Manjrekar was disappointed at India’s poor show in the Adelaide Oval in the first Test and he wants India to bounce back quickly in the second Test scheduled to be held in Melbourne from December 26.
He wants India and stand-in skipper Ajinkya Rahane, who will lead the side in the absence of Virat Kohli, to focus on one thing. The way Indian batsmen were dismissed in the first Test showed that they failed to leave the deliveries outside off stump and kept nicking them which proved to be their downfall.
He took to Twitter and suggested, “In this gap, Indian batsmen (Esp Rahane ) must practice just one thing. Get million balls thrown at full & short length, make decisive feet movement. Big stride forward to full balls & right back in the crease to short balls. This is the basic ‘Riyaz’ for defensive Test batting.”
