Sankar Foundation completes 3.5 lakh eye surgeries
CEO of Sankar Foundation Eye Hospital, Manimala, said that the foundation was grateful to the AP govt and all the corporates which supported them in achieving the milestone
Visakhapatnam: Sankar Foundation, one of the largest community eye care services providers in north coastal Andhra Pradesh, has achieved another milestone of successful completion of 3,50,000 eye surgeries.
Informing this at a media conference here on Saturday, Managing Trustee and CEO of Sankar Foundation Eye Hospital, Manimala, said that the foundation was grateful to the Andhra Pradesh government and all the corporates which supported them in achieving the milestone.
“The hospital was serving the community for the past 23 years in delivering quality eye care in all sub-specialties of ophthalmology like cataract, retina, glaucoma, cornea, pediatric ophthalmology and orbit and oculoplastic. It had its community eye care department to serve the poor and needy patients from interior rural and tribal villages and through community outreach, the foundation had extended 72 per cent of its surgical services to 2,71,366 patients free of cost,” she stated.
Though the services were badly hit by the unexpected Covid pandemic for the past two years, it continued the services following COVID norms, she said.
The foundation recently started a branch in Madhurawada in Visakhapatnam city and would shortly start another secondary care hospital at Srikakulam, she announced.
