Hyderabad: Sankranthi rush led to city gridlock, with commuters facing delays across key routes as traffic built up during peak hours.
From 5 pm on Saturday, major roads including Nizampet, Miyapur, KPHB, Bharat Nagar, S R Nagar, Ameerpet, Maitrivanam, Khairatabad, Lakdi-ka-pul up to MG Bus Station witnessed heavy traffic. Roads were packed with hundreds of passengers waiting with luggage at these points, resulting in severe traffic jams.
Also, the ongoing Numaish exhibition at Nampally grounds witnessed a huge rush, resulting in significant traffic jams on surrounding roads including M J Market, Begum Bazar, Afzalgunj, Nampally and Abids.
Senior traffic officials monitored the situation and managed vehicle movement as congestion persisted in several areas.
