Hyderabad: International Master MP Saravana Krishnan (Karur Vysysa Bank) clinched the 3rd Hyderabad All India Open FIDE Rating title that concluded at Joy International School, Bachupally, on Wednesday.

Krishnan defeated Arpan Das (West Bengal) on the Top Board, in Ruy Lopez Opening in 36 moves. He finished with 8.5 points at the end of the ninth round.


IM K Ratnakaran (Railways), S Dhananjay (Chattisgarh) and Grandmaster RR Laxman (ICF) were tied for second place with 8 points each. However, IM K Ratnakaran got second place via tie-break score. S Dhananjay was third and Laxman took the fourth spot.

Top 10 places: 1. Saravana Krishnan (Karur Vysya Bank), 2. IM Ratnakaran (Railways), 3. Dhananjay (Chattisgarh) 4. GM RR Laxman (ICF), 5. Arpan Das (West Bengal), 6. CM Kushagra mohan (Hyderabad), 7. Utsab Chaterjee (West Bengal), 8. Harshit Pawar (Delhi), 9. Sri Sai Baswanth (Andhra Pradesh), 10.Dhanush Ragav (Tamil Nadu).

Results-Top Five Boards- 9th (Final) Round:

  1. IM Saravana krishnana (8.5) beat Arpan das (7.5)
  2. Utsab Chaterjee (7.5) lost to IM Ratnakaran (8)
  3. GM R.R Laxman (8) beat Srihari .L (7)
  4. Dhananjay .S (8) beat Kaustuv Kundu (7)
  5. Sri Saibaswanth (7.5) drew with IM Gusain Himal (7.5).
