Mancherial: A sarpanch candidate’s husband alleged that irregularities took place in elections to Bavupat village in Chennur mandal. He, along with his supporters, staged a rasta roko in Chennur demanding justice on Friday.
Independent candidate Pabba Jyothi’s husband Santosh alleged that the polling staff backed a candidate, Thati Srinivas, who was supported by the Congress. He claimed that Srinivas managed to win the polls with the help of staffers by a margin of two votes. He accused the staffers of showing bias towards Srinivas and helping him register victory by a slender margin.
Santosh claimed that the staff intentionally declared some votes as invalid, indirectly supporting Srinivas. He also alleged that Congress activists entered the counting hall in violation of the Model Code of Conduct. The protesters raised slogans against the MPDO. They demanded that Collector Kumar Deepak intervene in the issue and ensure justice for Santosh.
