Hyderabad: The Telangana Sarpanch Sangham Joint Action Committee has demanded that the State government release the MGNREGS funds transferred by the Central government.

To this effect, the Joint Action Committee president Yadaiah Goud and others submitted a representation to the Panchayat Raj Commissioner here on Monday.

The Joint Action Committee said the Central government, under the Material Component Fund of MGNREGS, had released Rs 1,200 crore last month. However, these funds were not released to the respective gram panchayats. When the issue was raised with Panchayat Raj officials, they informed that due to technical snags, there was a delay in releasing the funds to panchayats, Yadaiah Goud said.

“The State government should initiate measures to release the funds within three days,” he demanded.

The Sarpanch Sangham Joint Action Committee also demanded that the State government release the pending bills of works taken up by Sarpanches in the past.
