Hyderabad: Union Home Minister Amit Shah took part in a roadshow conducted from the Warasiguda crossroads to Sitaphalmandi on the last day of the GHMC election campaign here on Sunday.
Holding party flags and wearing turban, people gathered all along the route. However, a few residents standing in their balconies held protests holding placards with slogans — ‘Save BSNL’ and ‘We Want 4G BSNL’.
The police closed the lanes connecting the Warasiguda-Sitaphalmandi road by placing barricades to ensure that Shah’s motorcade proceeded without any problem. A Bonalu procession followed by ‘kolatam’ dances were also organised during the roadshow.
Earlier in the day, Shah visited Bhagyalakshmi temple near Charminar. He was accompanied by BJP State president Bandi Sanjay and Goshamahal BJP MLA T Raja Singh.
Soon after getting down from his vehicle, Shah went near the barricades which were put up to keep away the crowd and greeted party workers. The Home Minister spent around 10 minutes in the temple before leaving for his election campaign in other parts of the city.
