Hyderabad: Condemning the State government’s move to ban sale and use of firecrackers this Deepavali, State BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar alleged that the State government failed to put up a strong argument against the petition in the High Court demanding a ban on firecrackers fearing spread of Covid-19.
“The State government failed to protect the sentiments of Hindus. How can the State government which issued licenses to sell firecrackers restrict the shop owners from doing so?” he asked. Demanding that the State government protect the interest of the shop owners, he said that large scale storage of unsold firecrackers could lead to a major fire mishap.
He said when there was no increase in pollution in 193 nations that burst fire-crackers on New Year’s eve, celebration of Deepavali on just one day in an entire year should not result in pollution.
