SBI finishes third in public sector T20 cricket tournament

State Bank of India secured third place in the All India Public Sector T20 cricket tournament in Mumbai, winning three league matches before losing the semifinal, with the play-off decided by a coin toss after rain washed out the match

Hyderabad: State Bank of India settled for third place in the All India Public Sector T-20 cricket tournament in Mumbai.

SBI won three league matches to make it to the semifinal, which it lost.


In the play-off match for third place against CAG, SBI emerged winners by spin of coin after the match was washed out due to heavy rain.

Captain Akash Bhandari, who scored a fine unbeaten 110 against FCI in the semifinal in vain, Danny Derek Prince, B Sumanth, M Ravi Kiran and S Anoop Pai were the key performers in the tournament.

KSK Chaitanya, Vishal Sharma and Alfred also put up a fine show for SBI.

The scores: League: EPFO 112 in 20 overs lost to SBI 114/3

Union Bank of India 140/9 in 20 overs lost to SBI 143/3 in 17.3 overs

MECON 171/4 in 20 overs lost to SBI 175/3 in 18.3 overs.

Semifinal: FCI 259/5 bt SBI 204/5 (Akash Bhandari 110 n.o.).
