SC bench to here arguments on divsion of power utility employees between TS & AP
While the Telangana government relieved 1,157 employees of Andhra origin in June, 2015, it also took back 274 employees of Telangana nativity working in AP power utilities
Hyderabad: A Supreme Court bench will be hearing the arguments over the final division and allocation of employees between the power utilities of Telangana State and Andhra Pradesh on Monday. The Bench will be dealing with the petitions filed by the Telangana Transco, Genco and the Telangana Engineers Association (TEEA) questioning the final allocations made by the one-member Justice Dharmadhikari Committee appointed by the Apex court to look into allocation of staff between the Telugu States, following bifurcation of erstwhile AP.
While the Telangana government relieved 1,157 employees of Andhra origin in June, 2015, it also took back 274 employees of Telangana nativity working in AP power utilities. The Dharmadhikari committee, while allocating 502 employees out of the 1,157 to Telangana as they opted for Telangana, allocated 655 employees to AP. While Telangana accepted this arrangement, Andhra Pradesh moved the Supreme Court. Upon the directions of the Apex Court, Dharmadhikari committee allocated 71 more Andhra employees to Telangana through a supplementary report.
“We are questioning the final allocation of the one-man committee. In addition to the number of employees with AP origin working in Telangana utilities, at least 6,000 more are working in different cadres such as operations and maintenance. If the AP government is not willing to take back their own, then we will agitate demanding the return of all the 6,000 employees to their home State,” N Sivaji, President of TEEA told Telangana Today. He urged Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao to speak to his counterpart YS Jaganmohan Reddy to solve the issue once AND for all.
