Hyderabad: The Cabinet sub-committee, formed to examine the Supreme Court’s judgment on the sub-classification of Scheduled Caste (SC) reservations, on Tuesday recommended the establishment of a one-man commission to implement the court’s directives. The sub-committee, chaired by Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, convened for the fourth time to finalize its recommendations.
The sub-committee emphasized that the appointment of the one-man commission should adhere to the guidelines and suggestions provided by the Advocate General. It stressed the importance of ensuring that the commission’s recommendations are legally binding and implemented without any legal complications.
In addition to the commission, the sub-committee called for an expedited Backward Classes (BC) census. The Minister said the sub-classification of SC reservations would be based on the 2011 census data. The sub-committee plans to tour various districts to gather public opinion on the matter.
