A link has been doing rounds on social media claiming that DMart supermarket is distributing gifts for free to mark its 20th anniversary. However, the message is false, tweeted Economic Offences Wing Cyberabad.
On clicking the fake link, a third-party website will be opened which has a spin wheel. You will be then asked to spin the wheel to win gift cards up to Rs 10,000. As soon as you spin the wheel, another link with a ‘free gift’ will appear.
Then you will be asked to share the ‘free gift’ contest with other friends to claim the prize. Earlier, when the similar link claiming free gifts from DMart was circulated, the Hyderabad police had warned that money will be deducted from your account once you click on this link.
However, as a general rule of thumb, don’t click on unauthorized links or share them on social media platforms.
