SCCL CMD inaugurates 1.23 MW rooftop solar plants in Kothagudem

Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has commissioned 1.23 MW rooftop solar plants on its corporate buildings in Kothagudem, marking another step in its renewable energy push. CMD Dr. Buddha Prakash Jyoti said the coal major is diversifying into solar and floating solar projects.

Kothagudem: The SCCL Chairman and Managing Director, Dr. Buddha Prakash Jyoti inaugurated the 1.23 MW rooftop solar power plants installed on company buildings on Singareni Corporate Area buildings here on Friday.

One segment of a 100 KW rooftop plant installed on top of the Head Office main building was connected to the grid. Speaking on the occasion, the CMD noted that Singareni, being a coal-producing company, has been making its mark not only in the thermal power sector but also in solar and floating solar power generation with the recent business expansion initiatives.


As an eco-friendly measure alongside its coal and thermal power operations, the company has already installed solar plants with the capacity of 245.5 MW across various vacant sites in the State.

In accordance with directives from the Central and Telangana governments, additional solar plants would be set up to meet national and State energy requirements, Dr. Buddha Prakash said.

The SCCL’s Directors LV Suryanarayana(operations), K Venkateswarlu (projects and planning), and M Thirumala Rao (E&M), General Managers Tadaboyina Srinivas, A Manohar, K Srinivasulu and others were present.
