Hyderabad: With nation facing a coal crisis and the Centre hinting at procuring coal from Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), Telangana State Planning Board chairman B Vinod Kumar asserted that the coal produced from Thadicherla mines should be strictly utilised for the nearby thermal power plant at Bhupalpally. He said that the Centre should not transport coal from Thadicherla mines to other States.
In a statement, Vinod Kumar said some top officials had given oral instructions to the SCCL authorities to supply coal from Thadicherla mines to other States. He stated that though there was coal shortage in other States leading to power outages, it was not justified to transport coal supplies meant for Bhupalpally thermal power station to other States and cause power supply disruptions in Telangana. He advised the Central authorities against any such actions.
