SCCL enters strategic minerals sector, secures Karnataka licence
SCCL CMD Dr Buddha Prakash Jyoti announced that the company has secured a licence to explore gold and copper in Karnataka’s Devadurga region and will soon commence exploration. He also highlighted the acquisition of the Tadicherla-2 coal block and PK OC-2 dip-side block.
Kothagudem: The SCCL has been entering the critical minerals sector as it secured a license to explore for gold and copper in the Devadurga region of Karnataka and would commence exploration activities soon, stated the company CMD Dr. Buddha Prakash Jyoti.
He hoisted the national flag at the SCCL’s central Independence Day celebrations here on Saturday and addressed the company workers. Singareni had secured the long-awaited mining lease for Tadicherla-2 block, which offers the potential to mine approximately 340 million tonnes of coal over a period of 40 years, he said.
Dr. Buddha Prakash further noted that Singareni had won the bid for the PK OC-2 dip-side block providing an opportunity to extract 120 million tonnes of coal reserves; this development would significantly contribute to the growth of both the Manuguru and Kothagudem regions.
Additionally, he explained that preparations were underway to extract rare earth elements from Singareni’s open-cast mines. The SCCL was committed to worker welfare and to improve medical services a cath lab was set up at Ramagundam Area Hospital to provide cardiac care.
Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka and Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao hoisted the national flag and addressed the public at Khammam and Kothagudem district headquarters respectively. They explained about the development and welfare measures the government has been implementing.
Similarly, Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic spirit at government and private schools, colleges across the erstwhile Khammam district with students presenting cultural programmes with nationalistic themes.
