Mancherial: Pension holders of Singareni Collieries Company Limited’s (SCCL) regretted that they were forced to starve on Dasara festival day due to delay in crediting pension amounts to their bank accounts by officials. They wrote an open letter to union minister for Coal and Mines minister G Kishan Reddy on Friday.
According to the letter, around 80,000 pension holders and retired employees starved on Dasara, while everyone celebrated the festival, a major affair in Telangana. The retired persons usually get their pensions on the first day of a month. However, due to negligence by officials at the Coal Miners Provident Fund (CMPF) organisation under Coal India, they did not receive their pensions even on October 3, they regretted.
The beneficiaries wanted the minister to take steps to ensure timely credit of pensions in their accounts on the first day of every month and to avoid inconvenience. They also wanted his intervention in extending social security pensions by Coal India on the lines of Aasara pensions offered by Telangana.
