Hyderabad: Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has set an ambitious target of extracting and transporting 700 lakh tonnes of coal and removal of 450 million cubic metres of overburden in the financial year 2021-22.

Participating in a special review meeting about targets of the financial year with Directors and General Managers of eleven areas through video conference from Singareni Bhavan here, the SCCL Chairman and Managing Director N Sridhar said the Singareni must achieve the highest coal production and transport like never before in the history of Singareni.

To achieve this, officials must set daily and monthly targets. Focus should also be laid on over burden removal. Due to Covid-19, the coal production and delivery was not up to the mark last year. But, this year, new mines are being started and contractors have also been finalised. The demand for coal has also increased.

Owing to these favourable conditions, the coal production, transport, turnover, and profits must be record breaking and through this the welfare of the employees will also be taken up. Sridhar said he spoke to the Collectors of five districts for land acquisition and Relief and Rehabilitation problems in starting new mines.

SCCL Director (Finance) N. Balaram also held special meetings with the Collectors and all the area General Managers must take special initiative to ensure that the promises of the Collectors are implemented.

Sridhar assured to sanction funds for any new proposals for achieving targets. The General Managers of their areas concerned must visit the mines in the first week of April and explain to workers the development of Singareni in the past six years.

At the same time, the targets to be achieved this year must also be explained to them apart from encouraging them to achieve targets. He sought the cooperation of all the officials and employees for achieving targets.

He said the explosives required for open cast mines can be imported from other countries if necessary and added that all the General managers must show leadership skills and problem-solving abilities.

He also warned that strict action will be taken against any negligence towards work and corrupt practices.
