Hyderabad: Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) Chairman and Managing Director N Sridhar on Friday underscored the need for conducting more Covid tests to contain the spread of the virus.

Interacting with officials during a video conference here, he said 50,000 testing kits would be made available soon for testing SCCL employees. He directed the officials to administer the first dose of vaccine in May and the second dose in July and advised them to appoint more doctors, technicians and other support staff on a contract basis. He asked General Managers to visit area hospitals and ensure the proper supply of medicines and oxygen to patients.

He instructed the officials to stock medicines and injections to meet the requirements for the next two months. Those with mild symptoms should be shifted to isolation centres while those with serious symptoms should be rushed either to area hospitals or Singareni-empanelled hospitals in Warangal, Karimnagar and Hyderabad.

“Officials can hire private ambulances if there are insufficient vehicles. Testing kits will be sent to the area hospitals soon,” he said, adding that 20 doctors had already been appointed on a contract basis. The capacity of 700-bed Singareni area hospitals was increased by adding 200 beds.

“It is the responsibility of the officials to treat the affected employees as their family members and ensure proper treatment to them,” he said.
