Hyderabad: Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has decided to impart training to as many as 550 youth for over 45 days to prepare them for the army recruitment drive to be conducted from March 5.
The training session that will be conducted under the aegis of Singareni Seva Samithi will commence from January 20, said Samithi vice-president K. Ravi Shankar here on Saturday. Last time, 35 youth were selected during the army recruitment drive after undergoing training given by the SCCL.
Following instructions from SCCL CMD N Sridhar, the Samithi is organizing the training session to youth in 11 places covering half a dozen districts where the Singareni is carrying out mining operations. The children of the Singareni employees including retired staff along with the children from the families affected with the Singareni project and youth from villages near mines and coal-belts can appear for the preliminary examination being conducted at the 11 training centres.
The youth between 18 and 21 years of age with a weight of 48 to 55 kgs and those who can run1600 metres in seven minutes will be selected for the training. Over 50 youngsters will be selected from each centre for giving physical training to them from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m.
The SCCL will provide nutritious food to candidates who are undergoing training under the guidance of experienced teaching staff. Many candidates joined the Indian army and discharging their duty on the border after successfully undergoing training offered by the Singareni.
The SCCL has started the training sessions for the youth since 2001.
