SCCWU gives strike notice on Singareni contract workers’ problems
The leaders demanded that local unemployed youth be given priority in job opportunities at the VK OC, which is set to begin operations soon in Kothagudem
SCCWU (IFTU) leaders handing over strike notice to SCCL Director (PA&W) Gautam Potru in Kothagudem on Saturday.
Kothagudem: In protest against the anti-worker and anti-people policies of the BJP government at the Centre, Singareni Collieries Contract Workers Union (IFTU) State general secretary A Venkanna and Kothagudem Region general secretary N Sanjeev gave a strike notice to Director (PA&W) Gautam Potru here on Saturday.
The leaders demanded that local unemployed youth be given priority in job opportunities at the VK OC, which is set to begin operations soon in Kothagudem; the locals should be identified as employees according to the B-register and that services of security guards at Bhupalpally should be continued as usual.
They also called on all workers to prepare for the strike on July 9, demanding an increase in bonus for Singareni contract workers and an increase in profit benefits for permanent workers.
